Monument Valley

Monument Valley is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft above the valley floor. It is located on the Arizona-Utah state line, near the Four Corners area. The valley lies within the range of the Navajo Nation Reservation, and is accessible from U.S. Highway 163.

West and East Mitten Buttes

East and West Mitten Buttes are two distinctive geological features found within Monument Valley in northeast Navajo County, Arizona. The two buttes are about 0.6 mile from the Arizona–Utah state line and West Mitten Butte is 1.1 miles northeast of the park headquarters. The summit of West Mitten Butte is 6,176 feet in elevation and East Mitten Butte is 6,226 feet . The two form a triangle with Merrick's Butte about 2/3 of a mile to the south. The buttes are made of three principal rock layers.

Hunts Mesa

Hunts Mesa is a rock formation located in Monument Valley, just south of the border between Utah and Arizona in the United States and just west of the border between Arizona's Navajo County and Apache County. It is one of two popular interior destinations in the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park for tourists to experience panoramic views of the popular sandstone formations from a distance. The other is Mystery Valley. A Navajo guide is required to hike to either.
