Telluride Regional Airport is a public use airport located five nautical miles west of the central business district of Telluride, a town in San Miguel County, Colorado, United States. It is owned by the Telluride Regional Airport Authority. At an elevation of 9,078 feet (2767 m) above sea level, it is currently the highest commercial airport in North America to receive scheduled passenger airline service.

Mountain Village, Colorado

Mountain Village is a Home Rule Municipality in San Miguel County, Colorado, United States. The population was 978 at the 2000 census. Mountain Village is just southwest of Telluride. The elevation of the town rises above Telluride to 9,540 feet. Mountain Village is an affluent town with many cobblestone plazas. This can be credited to the ski resort which surrounds the area.

South Fork San Miguel River

South Fork San Miguel River is a 6.5-mile-long tributary of the San Miguel River in San Miguel County, Colorado. The river flows north from a confluence of the Lake Fork and the Howard Fork to a confluence with the San Miguel River west of Telluride.

Ames Hydroelectric Generating Plant

The Ames Hydroelectric Generating Plant, located near Ophir, Colorado, was the world's first commercial system to produce and transmit alternating current (AC) electricity. It is now on the List of IEEE Milestones. In the summer of 1890, Westinghouse Electric supplied the station's generator and motor. They were installed in the winter, and from Spring 1891 provided alternating current electricity that was transmitted 2.6 miles to a motor-driven stamp mill at the Gold King Mine.
