Lake Pocotopaug

Lake Pocotopaug is a census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of East Hampton in Middlesex County, Connecticut, United States. It is named for the large local lake, which for years has been a popular resort area. The lake is surrounded by numerous homes. Most are year round residences, although some summer cottages dot the shore. It is especially noted for two islands in its center, separated by a narrow, shallow strait (both of which have cabins).

Meshomasic State Forest

Salmon River (Connecticut)

The Salmon River is formed at the confluence of the Blackledge and Jeremy rivers about one mile west of North Westchester, Connecticut. It runs for 10.4 miles to Salmon Cove near Moodus where it flows into the Connecticut River. There is a popular paddling route along the Salmon River varying in difficulty from quickwater to Class II whitewater. It begins along River Road about 1/10 of a mile south of the river's formation and continues for about 7 miles to the flatwater of Salmon Cove.
