Polk State College

Polk State College, formerly known as Polk Community College, is a public state college located in Winter Haven, Florida, USA. Polk State College is a member institution of the Florida College System. The college changed its name from Polk Community College in 2009 to reflect its first Bachelor's degree program. Originally named Polk Junior College, it began classes in 1964. The main campus is located in Winter Haven, a second campus is located in nearby Lakeland.

Florida Polytechnic University

Florida Polytechnic University (FPU) is a public university in Lakeland, Florida, United States. FPU is a member institution of the State University System of Florida, and is the state's only public polytechnic university. The institution originated as University of South Florida Polytechnic, a branch campus of the University of South Florida that opened in 1988. In 2012 it was split off as an independent university, becoming the twelfth and newest member of the State University System.

WYFO is a non-commercial radio station in Lakeland, Florida, broadcasting to the Lakeland-Winter Haven area on 91.9 FM. Lakeland Highlands is a census-designated place (CDP) in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 12,557 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lakeland Highlands is an affluent area south of Lakeland city limits. Its schools include, George W. Jenkins Senior High School (named after the founder of Publix Supermarkets, based in Lakeland), Lakeland Highlands Middle School and Valleyview Elementary.
