Chestatee River

The Chestatee River (variant spellings Chestatie, Chestetee, Chostatee, Chosteta,Chestotee none in modern use) is a 50.8-mile-long river in the Appalachian Mountains of northern Georgia, USA. It begins at the confluence of Dicks Creek and Frogtown Creek in northeastern Lumpkin County, flowing down by the county seat and former Georgia Gold Rush town of Dahlonega, and then under the northern terminus of the Georgia 400 expressway from Atlanta.

Hall County is a county located in the US state of Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the population was 139,277. It is included in the Gainesville, Georgia, Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also part of the greater Atlanta–Sandy Springs–Gainesville, Georgia-Alabama Combined Statistical Area. Free Jim Mine

The Free Jim Mine http://tin. er. usgs. gov/mrds/show. php?labno=10265211 was a Georgia Gold Rush gold mine located in the town of Dahlonega in Lumpkin County, Georgia, USA. The mine was started by a free African American named James Boisclair, who arrived in the area in the 1830s from Augusta, Georgia. Apparently, Boisclair discovered gold on a tract of land but, under state law, could not purchase the land since he was black, except through a guardian. A local resident, Joseph J.
