Chief Joseph Pass

Chief Joseph Pass el. 7,251 feet is a mountain pass on the continental divide of the Rocky Mountains in the northwestern United States. It separates Lemhi County, Idaho and Beaverhead County, Montana. The pass is in the Bitterroot Mountains and is traversed by Montana State Highway 43. The pass is named after Chief Joseph of the Wallowa band of the Nez Perce tribe who traversed the pass in 1877 during the Nez Perce War.

Lost Trail Pass

Lost Trail Pass is a mountain pass in the Rocky Mountains of the United States, on the border of Idaho and Montana in the Bitterroot Mountains. The pass is at an elevation of 7014 feet (2138 m) above sea level and is traversed by U.S. Highway 93. The pass is about a half-mile (1 km) west of the continental divide, which retreats eastward at this point, inside Montana along the Ravalli-Beaverhead county border, toward Butte.

North Fork, Idaho

North Fork is an unincorporated community in Lemhi County, Idaho. Its name is derived from confluence of the south-flowing North Fork of the Salmon River with the north-flowing main Salmon River, which makes a near-right angle turn here to flow westward across the state to Riggins. US 93 serves the community, connecting it with Salmon to the south and Lost Trail Pass to the north. Longtime families in the community include Cummings, Prestwich, Randolph, Hughes, Smith, and Maxwell.

Gibbons Pass

Gibbons Pass (el.  2117 m./6945 ft. ) is a high mountain pass in the Rocky Mountains in Montana. It is situated on the North American Continental Divide. It was used by the Lewis and Clark Expedition on their return trip. Gibbons Pass is also one of the most historic passes in Montana. It's highest point is 6,945 feet above sea level. The conflict with the Nez Perce Indians by Captain Gibbons began here.
