Ladd, Illinois

Ladd is a village in Bureau County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,313 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Ottawa–Streator Micropolitan Statistical Area. Ladd is most notable for the large hill in the middle of town that resulted from the years of mining conducted in the town and for a World War II tank located in the center of its park. Ladd is the center of the local music scene with the Cancun in Ladd hosting shows at least once a month.

The Peru Mall is a 78-outlet shopping center located in Peru, Illinois. It is the largest mall within 50 miles. The mall is anchored by Bergner's, Sears, JCPenney and Marshalls, plus a movie theater. Directly outside the shopping center are Applebee's and Subway restaurants. The 465,000-square-foot shopping center is also the largest mall within a 55-mile radius and serves as the major commercial center in the city of Peru.

Cherry, Illinois

Cherry is a village in Bureau County, Illinois, United States. The population was 509 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Ottawa–Streator Micropolitan Statistical Area. It is located west of LaSalle-Peru, just a few miles north of Interstate 80, and is about 75 east of the Quad Cities. Cherry was the site of the Cherry Mine Disaster, which killed 259 coal miners in November, 1909. This was the third most deadly mine disaster in U.S. history (as of 2005).
