Chester Mental Health Center

The Chester Mental Health Center is the State of Illinois' only maximum security forensic mental health facility for those committed via a court order or deemed an escape risk. The facility is operated by the State of Illinois in Chester, Illinois and is a part of the Illinois Department of Human Services, formerly the Illinois Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities. It is adjacent to the Menard State Prison.

Fort Kaskaskia State Historic Site

Fort Kaskaskia State Historic Site is a 200-acre (0.8 km²) park near Chester, Illinois, on a blufftop overlooking the Mississippi River. It commemorates the vanished frontier town of Old Kaskaskia and the support it gave to George Rogers Clark in the American Revolution.

Pierre Menard House

The Pierre Menard House, located in Ellis Grove, Illinois, U.S.A. , was the home of Pierre Menard, a trader who became the first lieutenant governor of Illinois from 1818 to 1822. Menard was born near Montreal, Canada on October 7, 1766. The third of ten children, Menard sought to make his fortune by trading furs in what was then "Illinois Country". Having become a successful businessman by the age of thirty, Menard went on to become a successful U.S.
