Hillsdale Lake

Hillsdale Lake is a reservoir located in the northwestern part of Miami County, in northeast Kansas and the central United States of America; it is approximately 30 mi from Kansas City. The surface area of the lake is approximately 4,580 acres, and the lake has a maximum depth of approximately 57 ft . Hillsdale Dam, impounding the Big Bull Creek to create the V-shaped reservoir, was completed in 1982 as a flood control project of the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

John Brown Museum

The John Brown Museum, also known as the John Brown State Historic Site, is located in Osawatomie, Kansas. The site is operated by the Kansas Historical Society, and includes the log cabin of Reverend Samuel Adair and his wife, Florella, who was the half-sister of the abolitionist John Brown. The museum's displays tell the story of John Brown, the Adairs and local abolitionists, and include the original cabin, Adair family furnishings and belongings, and Civil War artifacts.
