Bullitt County, Kentucky

Bullitt County, founded in December 1796, is a county in the U.S. state of Kentucky located in the far western Bluegrass region known as the Knobs, with an area of 300 square miles . The population was 74,319 in the 2010 Census. Just south of the city of Louisville, part of the Louisville metropolitan area commonly known as Kentuckiana, the county is home to several commuter towns including the cities of Hillview, Lebanon Junction, Mount Washington and Shepherdsville - the county seat.

Shepherdsville, Kentucky

Shepherdsville is a city in Bullitt County, Kentucky, United States, just south of Louisville. The population was 8,334 at the 2000 census, but 2009 estimates put the city at 9,344. It is the county seat of Bullitt County.

Shepherdsville train wreck

The Shepherdsville train wreck was a fatal railway accident that occurred on December 20, 1917 in Shepherdsville, Kentucky on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, which killed 49 people (some sources say 51), and left a similar number seriously injured. It is the worst and deadliest train wreck of Kentucky's history.

North Bullitt High School

North Bullitt High School is a school located in Hebron Estates, Kentucky, a small city served by the post office of nearby Shepherdsville. Opened in 1975, it is part of the Bullitt County Public Schools district. The school has recently been given a new principal. There are over 1200 students enrolled at NBHS. The school underwent renovations in 2005 which were fully completed by Fall 2008, adding a 2nd story with additional classrooms.
