Grayson Lake

Grayson Lake is a 1,500-acre reservoir in Carter and Elliott counties in Kentucky. It was created by the United States Army Corps of Engineers in 1968 by impounding the Little Sandy River with the Grayson Dam, an earthen structure 120 feet high, creating a maximum capacity of 118,990 acre-feet. Sections of Kentucky Route 7 were re-routed as a result of the lake's creation. KY 7 now traverses a modern highway stretch around the park, crossing the dam also.

Grayson, Kentucky

Grayson is a city in Carter County, Kentucky, United States, along the Little Sandy River. The population was 3,877 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Carter County. Since Interstate 64 and the AA Highway both converge in Grayson, the northern part of town has an abundance of truck stops and fast-food establishments. Grayson's largest employer is Smithfield Foods, formerly known as Cooks.

Grayson Lake State Park is a Kentucky state park in Carter County, Kentucky, and near the city of Grayson, Kentucky. The park has an area of 1,512 acres . It has facilities for boating, water skiing, swimming, fishing and golfing. It is served by Kentucky Route 7, which was re-routed as a result of the lakes creation.

WGOH (1370 AM and 100.9 FM and 102.3 WUGO-FM) is a radio station licensed to Grayson, Kentucky. WGOH-AM and FM broadcasts a Classic Country format while WUGO-FM broadcasts an Adult Contemporary format. The station serves the Northeast Kentucky area and is currently owned by Carter County Broadcasting Co. , Inc. Carter County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It was formed in 1838 and was named for William Grayson Carter, a state senator at the time of its creation. The county seat is named for his uncle, Robert Grayson. As of 2010, the population was 27,720. Its county seat is Grayson, Kentucky. Carter County is part of the Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY-OH, Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). As of the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 287,702.
