Bossier City, Louisiana

Bossier City is a city in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, Bossier City had a total population of 61,315. The 2011 estimate is 62,745. The city is 26 percent African American. Bossier City is closely tied to its larger sister city Shreveport, located on the western bank of the Red River. The Shreveport – Bossier City metropolitan area is the center of the region known as the Ark-La-Tex. It is not the parish seat.

Barksdale Air Force Base

Barksdale Air Force Base (AFB) is a United States Air Force base located approximately 4.72 miles east-southeast of Bossier City, Louisiana. The host unit at Barksdale is the 2d Bomb Wing (2 BW), the oldest Bomb Wing in the Air Force. It is assigned to the Air Force Global Strike Command's (AFGSC) Eighth Air Force (8 AF).

Louisiana Downs

Harrah's Louisiana Downs is a horse racing track and racino located in Bossier City, Louisiana. Louisiana Downs opened in 1974. It was built by shopping center developer Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. , a longtime supporter of horse racing; it was third race track he developed, along with Thistledown and Remington Park. Harrah's Entertainment purchased the track in 2002.

CenturyLink Center

The CenturyLink Center (formerly CenturyTel Center and Bossier City Arena) is a 14,000-seat multi-purpose arena, in Bossier City, Louisiana. The naming rights were purchased by the telephone company CenturyLink of Monroe, Louisiana. Opened in 2000 during the administration of then Bossier City Mayor George Dement, the center is among several projects financed from revenues derived from three casinos in the city.
