Swanton is a census-designated place (CDP) in Garrett County, Maryland, United States. Swanton is close to several recreation areas like Deep Creek Lake State Park and Jennings-Randolph Lake. A church and a post office are in the downtown area. The population was 58 at the 2010 census. Anderson Chapel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Elk Garden, West Virginia

Elk Garden is a town in Mineral County, West Virginia, United States. It is part of the 'Cumberland, MD-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area'. The population was 232 at the 2010 census. Elk Garden High School was consolidated into Keyser High School in 1997. However the Primary School is still in session, offering classes from Pre-Kindergarten through the fifth grade. The school mascot is the Elk Garden Stags. Elk Garden was incorporated in 1890 by the Mineral County Circuit Court.

Criterion Wind Project

The Criterion Wind Project is a wind farm located on Backbone Mountain east of Oakland, Maryland, United States. The project has a rated capacity of 70 MW and uses 28 Liberty Wind Turbines manufactured by Clipper Windpower. Each of the wind turbines is about 415 feet tall. The Criterion Wind Project is owned by Criterion Power Partners, LLC, which is a subisiary of Exelon, and interconnected with the transmission system of the Potomac Edison Company (a subsidiary of FirstEnergy).
