Michigamme is an unincorporated community in Marquette County of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a census-designated place (CDP) for statistical purposes and without any legal status as a municipality. As of the 2000 census, the CDP population was 287. The community is located within Michigamme Township at the northwestern end of Lake Michigamme at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:46|32|05|N|88|06|36|W|region:US-MI_type:city_scale:30000_source:GNIS | |name= }}.

Lake Michigamme

Lake Michigamme, one of Michigan's largest lakes, reaches a depth of over 70 feet . It covers 4,292 acres in Marquette and Baraga County, Michigan. Van Riper State Park provides public access. The vast majority of the lake lies in Marquette County, with only its westernmost part extending into Baraga County. The lake runs about 6 miles east to west, with a southern arm extending about another 4. A dam separates the Michigamme river from the main body of the lake at the end of the southern arm.

Spurr River

The Spurr River is a short stream in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. It rises from the outflow of Beaufort Lake at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:46|32|47|N|88|11|14|W|region:US-MI_type:river_source:GNIS | |name= }} and flows 3.9 miles east-southeast into Lake Michigamme at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:46|31|43|N|88|07|54|W|region:US-MI_type:river_source:GNIS | |name= }}. The river flows along the south side of US 41/M-28 for most of its course.

Spurr Township, Michigan

Spurr Township is a civil township of Baraga County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 227 at the 2000 census. The township had been organized while it was part of Houghton County. It was one of the four original townships of Baraga County when it was set off from Houghton in 1875. It is named for "Spurr Mountain", the site of an iron ore mine, first named the "Spurr Mountain Mining Company", organized in 1872.
