Bay de Noc Township, Michigan

Bay de Noc Township is a civil township of Delta County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township population was 329. The township covers the southern portion of the peninsula separating Little Bay de Noc and Big Bay de Noc on Lake Michigan. Ensign Township is to the north and Escanaba is to the west across the Little Bay de Noc.

Little Bay de Noc

Little Bay de Noc is a bay in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. The bay opens into Lake Michigan's Green Bay. The bay, consisting of approximately 30,000 acres (120 km²), is enclosed by Delta County. The cities of Escanaba and Gladstone are on the west side of the bay. The bay's name comes from the Noquet (or Noc) Native American people (thought to have been related to the Menominee of the Algonquian language group), who once lived along the shores.

Escanaba, Michigan

Escanaba is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, located in the banana belt on the state's Upper Peninsula. The population was 12,616 at the 2010 census. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 13,140, making it the third-largest city in the Upper Peninsula after Marquette and Sault Ste. Marie. It is the county seat of Delta County.

Escanaba River

The Escanaba River is a 52.2-mile-long river on the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. In his poem The Song of Hiawatha, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow describes how Hiawatha "crossed the rushing Esconaba". It is a wide river that cuts into limestone beds. The upper river is rocky and scenic and supports brook, brown and some rainbow trout throughout along with warmwater species in the impoundments. John D.

Bay de Noc Community College

Bay de Noc Community College (commonly called Bay College) is a public two-year college located in Escanaba, Michigan, United States, and was founded in 1962. The college has a main campus in Escanaba and another 25-acre campus, Bay College West/Iron Mountain, in Iron Mountain, Michigan to serve Dickinson County. The college offers two-year associate's degrees. It is the home of the first Michigan Technical Education Center.
