Nunda /nʌnˈdeɪ/ is a village in Livingston County, New York, United States. The population was 1,377 at the 2010 census. The Village of Nunda is located on the west side of the Town of Nunda. Note: the town and village name is pronounced "None-day."

Nunda welcomes each visitor with signs stating, "Welcome to Nunda, A Nice Place To Live. " The name is derived from Nunda-wa-ono, a Seneca Indian tribe that once lived in the hills and valleys along the Genesee river and Keshequa stream within the Township of Nunda.

Portageville, New York
Portageville is a hamlet located in the town of Genesee Falls in Wyoming County, New York. Its name derives from the Native American canoeists who would withdraw their craft from the river to avoid going over three waterfalls in the Genesee River gorge. They had to portage several miles to the site of present day Mount Morris where they could embark for the rest of the journey downriver. Portageville is the only named community in the town of Genesee Falls.
