Appalachian State University (ASU) is a comprehensive, public, coeducational university located in Boone, North Carolina, United States. Appalachian State (also referred to as Appalachian, App State, or simply App) was founded as a teacher's college in 1899 by brothers B.B. and D.D. Dougherty. Varsity Gymnasium

Varsity Gymnasium is an 8,000 seat multi-purpose arena in Boone, North Carolina. It opened in 1968 and was home to the Appalachian State Mountaineers basketball teams until the Holmes Center opened in 2000. The gym is currently home to the wrestling program.

George M. Holmes Convocation Center

The George M. Holmes Convocation Center (usually referred to as the Holmes Center or The Holmes Dome) is a 8,325-seat multipurpose arena in Boone, North Carolina, United States, on the campus of Appalachian State University. The convocation center is named for George M. Holmes, a 1954 graduate and member of the North Carolina General Assembly. The arena itself is named for Seby Jones.

Boone, North Carolina

Boone is a town located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, United States. Boone's population was 17,122 in 2010. Boone is the county seat of Watauga County and the home of Appalachian State University. The town is named for famous American pioneer and explorer Daniel Boone, and every summer since 1952 has hosted an outdoor amphitheatre portrayal of the life and times of its namesake. In 2012, Boone was listed among the 10 best places to retire in the U.S. by U.S. News.
