Governors Island is the one of the few islands with permanent residents on Lake Norman. It is located in Westport, a community in Catawba Springs Township, in Lincoln County, North Carolina, USA. The island is a small, wealthy community on Lake Norman located 20 miles northwest of Charlotte, North Carolina and less than half a mile from mainland Westport in the piedmont of North Carolina. Westport is an unincorporated community and census-designated place located in Westport Cove on Lake Norman in Lincoln County, North Carolina, United States. The population of the CDP was 2,006 at the 2000 census. The origin of the community's name comes from its location on the west side of the Lake.

Denver, formerly known as "Dry Pond," is an unincorporated community located in Lincoln County, North Carolina, United States. It is situated on North Carolina State Highway 16 on the west shore of Lake Norman on the Catawba River. It is about 25 miles north of downtown Charlotte and just south of the Catawba County boundary. Denver's ZIP code is 28037 and the FIPS place code is 17000. The elevation is 902 feet above sea level.

East Lincoln High School
