Altus is a city in Jackson County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 19,813 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Jackson County. Altus is home to Altus Air Force Base, the United States Air Force training base for C-17, and KC-135 aircrews. It is also home to Western Oklahoma State College and Southwest Technology Center.

Western Oklahoma State College

Western Oklahoma State College, formerly known as Altus Junior College, is a community college located in Altus, Oklahoma. In 2004 it graduated 272 with associate degrees. Of its 1500 undergraduates, 58 percent are female and 42 percent are male as of 2003. The ethnic composition of the students is 2003 was 74 percent white, 11 percent Hispanic, 10 percent black, 4 percent American Indian/Alaskan, and 2 percent Asian/Pacific Islander.

Morgan Doll Museum

The Morgan Doll Museum is a doll museum in Altus, Oklahoma. It was established in 2005 and is made up of dolls collected by Mary Morgan over her liftetime. Morgan has amassed a collection totaling over 5,000 dolls. The house she lived in with her husband (until they purchased a new one) has been completely remodeled to house the doll collection. Many rows of shelves cover every wall, all filled to capacity with dolls from the 19th century to present. Many collections are specific.
