Connellsville train wreck

The Connellsville train wreck was a rail accident that occurred on December 23, 1903 on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad near Connellsville, Pennsylvania. The Duquesne Limited, a passenger train, derailed when it struck a load of timber lying on the tracks. The timber had fallen from a freight train minutes before the collision. The crash resulted in 64 deaths and 68 injuries.

Jefferson Township is a township in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,259 at the 2000 census. It is named for former president Thomas Jefferson, and many of the township's streets are named after other U.S. presidents. Frazier School District serves the area. Washington Run Railroad

The Washington Run Railroad was a branch line connected to the B&O Railroad. Although primarily a freight carrier, it also had a passenger car, and ran a passenger service as well. It ran from Layton, Pennsylvania, crossed the Youghiogheny River on a bridge, then passed through a tunnel to continue to Perryopolis, Pennsylvania. From there, it continued to Star Junction, Pennsylvania, on a track that ran parallel to Pennsylvania Route 51.
