Florence (Amtrak station)

The Florence Amtrak station is a train station in Florence, South Carolina, United States served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. Florence is served by Amtrak's Palmetto and Silver Meteor routes and is a service stop for the Auto Train. The station was built by CSX in 1996 as a replacement for the much larger former station, which is now owned by the McLeod Regional Medical Center.

Beth Israel Congregation (Florence, South Carolina)

Beth Israel Congregation is a Reform synagogue located at 316 Park Avenue in Florence, South Carolina. Formally incorporated with the state of South Carolina in September 1912, Beth Israel grew out of the Florence Hebrew Benevolent Association which was founded in 1887. As of 2009, the rabbi was Jeffrey Ronald. Part-time rabbi, Aaron Sherman, became spiritual leader of Beth Israel in August 2011.

Florence is the largest city in and the county seat of Florence County, South Carolina, United States. Known as the Florence Metropolitan Statistical Area, Florence adjoins Darlington to form the core of "Pee Dee" region of South Carolina, an area that includes the eight counties of northeastern South Carolina along with sections in southeastern North Carolina. The U.S. Census Bureau estimated the city's population was 37,056 at the 2010 census.

Florence Stockade

The Florence Stockade, also known as The Stockade or the Confederate States Military Prison at Florence, was a Confederate prisoner-of-war camp located on the outskirts of Florence, South Carolina, during the American Civil War. It operated from September 1864 through February 1865; during this time, as many as 18,000 Union soldiers were imprisoned there, about 2,800 of whom died.
