John B. Connally Unit

The John B. Connally Unit is a maximum-security prison for males located in unincorporated Karnes County, Texas, United States. It is located on Texas State Highway 181 2 miles south of the city of Kenedy, and southeast of San Antonio. The prison, with about 813 acres of space, is operated by the Correctional Institutions Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, administered as within Region IV. The unit is named for former Governor and United States Treasury Secretary John B.

Tuleta, Texas

Tuleta is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bee County, Texas, United States. The population was 292 at the 2000 census. Tuleta is on State Highway 181 twelve miles north of Beeville in north Bee County. It was founded by Peter Unzicker, a Mennonite minister, who brought a colony of Mennonites from Cullom, Illinois, in 1906. Unzicker, a German, purchased 54½ acres of land from the Chittum-Miller ranch for the townsite, which was named for J. M. Chittum's daughter.
