Grand County, Utah

Grand County is a county located in the U.S. state of Utah. As of 2010 the population was 9,225. This county was named for the Colorado River, which at the time of statehood was known as the Grand River. Its county seat and largest city is Moab. It is west from the Colorado state line.

Cisco Oil Field

Cisco Oil Field is an oil field located in Grand County, Utah. The field was discovered in 1924 in the now abandoned town of Cisco, Utah. It is one of the oldest oil fields in the state of Utah. New production was discovered in the Cisco townsite during 2005 drilling by a Reno, Nevada-based oil company. The field produces from channel sands in the Mancos, Dakota and Morrison formations.

Devil's Garden

In myrmecology and forest ecology, a devil's garden is a large stand of trees in the Amazon Rainforest consisting almost exclusively of a single species, Duroia hirsuta. Devil's gardens are immediately recognizable because the dominance of a single tree species is dramatically different from the biodiversity of the forest as a whole.

Cisco Springs Oil Field

The Cisco Springs Oil and Gas Field is located in Grand County, Utah at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:39|04|30|N|109|21|19|W|type:landmark_region:US_source:gnis |primary |name= }}. The field produces mostly natural gas from the Dakota and Morrison Formations at depths ranging from 1,200 feet to 2,200 feet .

Wall Arch

Wall Arch was a natural sandstone arch in the Arches National Park in the U.S. state of Utah. Before its collapse in 2008, it was ranked 12th in size among the park's over 2,000 arches. At its largest, the opening underneath the span was 71 feet wide by 33.5 feet high. It consisted of Entrada Sandstone, specifically the member known as Slick Rock. Wall Arch was first reported and named in 1948 by Lewis T. McKinney.
