Hurricane High School (Utah)

Hurricane High School is the only high school in Hurricane, Utah, with a current enrollment of about 850 students in grades 10-12 from Hurricane and surrounding communities, including La Verkin, Toquerville, Hildale, Virgin, Rockville, and Springdale. With 762 students enrolled as of March 8, 2007, it is the 4th largest high school in Washington County School District. Hurricane High's school colors are red and black. The school mascot is a tiger.

Hurricane Mesa Test Facility

Hurricane Mesa Test Facility, in southern Utah, is owned and operated by Goodrich Aircraft Interior Products Propulsion Systems. It is the United States' only privately owned supersonic test track. The test facility is located north of Utah State Route 9 between La Verkin, Utah and Zion National Park.

Diamond Ranch Academy

Not to be confused with Diamond Ranch High School in Pomona, California The Diamond Ranch Academy is a residential treatment center and therapeutic boarding school in Hurricane, Utah. It serves adolescents with various issues, including ADHD predominantly inattentive, using what they call the "Real Life Transition Program", which includes a peer participant judicial system which uses misdemeanors, felonies, citations and fines with an emphasis on the participants solving real life problems.

Browse is an unincorporated area of Washington County in southwestern Utah near Interstate 15. Browse is in a transitional climate zone as it is located between St. George, Utah at about 2800 feet above sea level in the Mojave Desert and Cedar City, Utah in the Great Basin at nearly 5900 feet. The Hurricane Cliffs, part of the Colorado Plateau, are directly to the east.

Purgatory Correctional Facility

Purgatory Correctional Facility is the county jail of Washington County, Utah. Also known as the Washington County Jail, it is located near St. George, Utah at Purgatory Flats, hence its unusual name. Technically lying within the borders of Hurricane, Utah, the facility is about halfway between downtown St. George and downtown Hurricane at Harrisburg Junction. It has a semi-rural setting in the shadow of a steep ridge, part of the Virgin River anticline.
