The Battle of Fredericksburg was fought December 11–15, 1862, in and around Fredericksburg, Virginia, between General Robert E. Lee's Confederate Army of Northern Virginia and the Union Army of the Potomac, commanded by Maj. Gen. Ambrose Burnside.

University of Mary Washington

The University of Mary Washington (also known as UMW, Mary Washington, or Mary Wash) is a public, coeducational liberal arts college located in the city of Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA. Founded in 1908 by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a normal school, during much of the twentieth century it was part of the University of Virginia, until separating in 1972. It is named after Mary Ball Washington, mother of George Washington, who spent much of her life in Fredericksburg.

Fredericksburg (Amtrak station)

The Fredericksburg Amtrak station is located at 200 Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg, Virginia. It is also the terminus of the Virginia Railway Express Fredericksburg Line. Fredericksburg Regional Transit (FRED) was also recently added by the city for the same purpose. Fredericksburg Station was originally built in 1910 by the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad, as a replacement for an older ground level station house.
