Lake Anna

Lake Anna is one of the largest freshwater inland lakes in Virginia, covering an area of 13,000 acres (53 km²), and located 72 miles (116 km) south of Washington, D.C. in Louisa and Spotsylvania counties (and partially in Orange County at the northern tips). The lake is easily accessible from Richmond and Charlottesville, and is one of the most popular recreational lakes in the state.

Beaverdam, Virginia

Beaverdam is a small unincorporated community in Hanover County in the central region of the U.S. state of Virginia. It was located on the Virginia Central Railroad, which later became part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad. It is the location of two historic locations: Scotchtown, a residence of Patrick Henry, and the Beaverdam Depot. It was also the childhood home of Thomas Nelson Page, a notable author and American diplomat in the 20th century.

Montpelier, Hanover County, Virginia

Montpelier is an unincorporated community in Hanover County in the central region of the U.S. state of Virginia. Montpelier is on U.S. Route 33, which was long named as "the Mountain Road" between Richmond and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The community is located midway between Richmond and President James Madison's home "Montpelier", and may have been named for the famous estate, which is a tourist attraction in modern times.

Lake Anna State Park

Lake Anna State Park is a state park located in Spotsylvania County in Virginia. Initially the site of the Goodwin Gold Mine - gold was first discovered at the site in 1829 - the land later played host to Lake Anna, a reservoir created to serve as a coolant for Dominion Power's nearby nuclear power plant. It was created by damming up the North Anna River. Work to create the park began in 1972, and it opened formally in 1983.
