New Castle, Virginia

New Castle (historically spelled as one word; "Newcastle") is the only town in Craig County, Virginia, United States. The population was 153 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Craig County. The junctions of State Route 311 and State Route 42 and State Route 311 and State Route 615 are in New Castle. New Castle is part of the Roanoke Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Audie Murphy

Audie Leon Murphy (June 20, 1925 – May 28, 1971) was one of the most famous and decorated American combat soldiers of World War II. He served in the Mediterranean and European Theater of Operations where he was presented the Medal of Honor and several other decorations for heroism in combat including decorations from France and Belgium. He was born into poverty on a farm in northeast Texas and was named for two family friends who kept the Murphys from starving.

North Fork of Roanoke AVA

The North Fork of Roanoke AVA is an American Viticultural Area located on the eastern slopes of the Allegheny Mountains in the Roanoke and Montgomery counties of Virginia. About 22 miles long and including parts of the Roanoke Valley, the AVA altitudes range from between 1,200 feet and 2,200 feet above sea level.
