Seven Mile Ford is a census-designated place (CDP) in Smyth County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 Census was 783. It obtained its current name as a result of being a river crossing seven miles from the Royal Oak Fort in Marion, Virginia. U.S. Hwy 11 passes through the center of the community, which is approximately 4 miles from Chilhowie.

Marion College, Virginia

Marion College was a Lutheran junior women's college that operated in Marion, Virginia from 1873 to 1967. Roanoke College, a sister Lutheran college, adopted Marion's alumnae and maintains their records. Marion's alumnae have a reunion every other year on the Roanoke campus. Roanoke's Marion Hall, constructed in 1968 as a women's residence hall, is named in honor of Marion College.
