Kelly's Ford, Virginia

Kelly's Ford was a major crossing point on the Rappahannock River. It was the site of a Civil War battle for control of the river ford. Today it is the only crossing on the river between Fredericksburg and Remington. It is the location of the Inn at Kelly's Ford and the Kelly's Ford Equestrian Center. It is also a frequently used launch point for canoe trips down the mostly untouched river.

The Piedmont region of Virginia is a part of the greater Piedmont region which stretches from the falls of the Potomac, Rappahannock, and James Rivers to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The region is 50 miles wide, more or less, and 100 miles in length. At its northern corners are the major cities of Washington, D.C. , and Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; on the southern corners, Charlottesville and Richmond, Virginia.
