KYRS, known as "Thin Air Community Radio", is a non-profit, non-commercial, full-power community radio station in Spokane, Washington at 88.1 MHz FM. The station has a translator, K222BG, at 92.3 FM, licensed to Dartford, Washington. The station switched from a low-power 100 watts to a full-power 6,800 watt effective radiated power station on November 5, 2011. The station streams its content from its website. KYRS was the fourth community radio barnraising of the Prometheus Radio Project.

John A. Finch Arboretum

John A. Finch Arboretum (56.65 acres) is a public arboretum located at West 3404 Woodland Boulevard, Spokane, Washington, USA on Sunset Hill. It is open daily without charge. The arboretum was established in 1949 along Garden Springs Creek, and now contains about 2,000 trees and shrubs, including 65 groups of lilacs, as well as a rhododendron grove, conifer and maple collections, and a nature trail.

Esmeralda Open

The Esmeralda Open was a golf tournament on the PGA Tour that was played in 1945 and 1947 in Spokane, Washington. It was held at Indian Canyon Golf Course, a municipal facility designed in 1930 by Chandler Egan on the west end of the city, and opened in 1935. The Esmeralda Open was organized by the Spokane Athletic Round Table, a fraternal organization, headed by Joe Albi. The ART's emblem was a laughing horse named Esmeralda, which inspired the title of the charity tournament.

Sunset Hill, Spokane, Washington

Sunset Hill is a neighborhood located west of downtown Spokane, Washington, and just east of the West Plains. Sunset Hill is a region with a mixture of poorly-zoned areas, subdivisions, and old neighborhoods. Aside from being split in half by I-90 and the Sunset Highway, Sunset Hill sees little traffic due to the lack of thru-streets and limited exits to the arterials. North-side Sunset Hill homes were built in the 60's and early 70's.
