Playa El Agua
Playa El Agua (The Water Beach) is the most famous tourist development on Margarita Island. El Agua is 2.5 miles (4 km) long, 30m wide, gold sand lined with huge palm trees that give shelter to numerous restaurants that offer their service directly to chairs located in the fine sand. The boulevard at Playa El Agua stretches for approximately 2 miles (3 km). While there are open stretches, most of the ocean side is lined by restaurants and shops. This beach is favored by both locals and visitors.

Playa Puerto Cruz
Playa Puerto Cruz is a roughly 1 km long beach located near Pedro Gonzalez in Isla Margarita, Venezuela. Located on Playa Puerto Cruz is the lighthouse of Punta Zaragoza, mounted on top of one of the two hills enclosing the Island. Until the winter of 2004 (November) a small wooden tower stood on the beach near the many shops and the beach bar. Puerto Cruz has been the location of the making of numerous commercial films because of its long white sandy beach.

In Gran Colombia it belonged to the Orinoco Department which was created in 1824. With the creation of the States of Venezuela in 1864 it became Nueva Esparta. La Asunción is a city in Venezuela. The capital of Nueva Esparta state, it lies on the Isla Margarita in the Caribbean Sea, off the South American mainland. La Asunción was founded in 1565 by Captain Pedro Cervantes de Albornoz and has a current population of approx 28,500 inhabitants. It is situated in a fertile valley surrounded by green hills, right in the center of eastern Margarita, where a fresher climate exist.
