Yali Falls Dam

The Yali Falls Dam is the second largest dam in Vietnam, located in Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces on the Krong Poko, a tributary of the Sesan River, in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam, about 70 kilometres upstream of the Cambodian border. The 69 metre-high dam was begun in 1993 and sealed in 1996, with the 64.5 km reservoir filled by 1998. It aims to generate 720 MW of hydropower.

Battle of Kontum

The lead-up to the Battle of Kontum began in mid-1971, when North Vietnam decided that its victory in Operation Lam Son 719 indicated that the time had come for large-scale conventional offensives that could end the war quickly. The resulting offensive, planned for the spring of 1972, would be known as the Easter Offensive in the South and the Nguyen Hue Offensive in the North, Nguyen Hue being a hero of Vietnamese resistance against the Chinese in 1773.

Chu Pah District

Chư Păh is a rural district of Gia Lai province in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam. As of 2003 the district had a population of 62,672. The district covers an area of 981 km². The district capital lies at Phu Hoa.
