Huong Tra District

Hương Trà is a rural district of Thua Thien-Huế province in the North Central Coast region of Vietnam. As of 2003 the district had a population of 114,985. The district covers an area of 521 km². The district capital lies at Tu Ha. The district is located on the northern outskirts of Huế, the major town in the district and the second largest town in central Vietnam after Da Nang.

La Vang

La Vang or Lavang is a locale in Quảng Trị Province, Vietnam. It is the site of the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of La Vang, a Roman Catholic sanctuary, commemorating a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary that was seen there in 1798. The site has been rebuilt on several occasions and is an important site of pilgrimage for Catholics in Vietnam, as well as for the Catholic Overseas Vietnamese community. Many Vietnamese Catholic parishes throughout the world are named for Our Lady of La Vang.

Battle of Fire Support Base Ripcord

The Battle of Fire Support Base Ripcord was a 23 day battle between the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division and the North Vietnamese Army from July 1, 1970 until July 23, 1970. It was the last major confrontation between United States ground forces and North Vietnam of the Vietnam War. Little was known about the battle until 1985, when the FSB Ripcord Association was founded. Three Medals of Honor and six Distinguished Service Crosses were awarded to participants for actions during the operations.
