Gwanda State University
Gwanda State University is a future state higher education institution that is planned to open in Gwanda, Zimbabwe in 2012. The university shall be hosted by the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic in Gwanda whilst construction takes place. It is planned that the university will start with two faculties, the Faulty of Mining Engineering and the Faculty of Agriculture, with a Faculty of Industrial Management to follow later.

Gwanda is a town in Zimbabwe. It is the capital of the province of Matabeleland South, one of the 10 administrative provinces in the country. The name Gwanda derives from that of a nearby hill known as Jahunda. Gwanda also refers to the rural district around the town.
