Mungindi is a town on the border of New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland in Moree Plains Shire. It possesses a New South Wales postcode. Barwon River, a perennial river that is part of the Murray–Darling basin, is located in the north-west slopes and Orana regions of New South Wales, Australia. The name "barwon" is derived from the Australian Aboriginal words of barwum or bawon, meaning great, wide, awful river of muddy water; and also baawan, a Ngiyambaa name for both the Barwon and Darling rivers.

Little Weir River

Little Weir River, an anabranch of the Barwon River within the Murray-Darling basin, is located in the South Downs district of Queensland and the Orana district of New South Wales, Australia. The river leaves Barwon River, north of Mungindi, Queensland, and flows generally south-west, before reaching its confluence with the Barwon River, near Moyan, in New South Wales; descending 16 metres over its 78 kilometres course.
