Levendale is a small settlement in the Southern Midlands Council area 53 km north of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia servicing the local farming community. Australian author and novelist Rachael Treasure resides in the area. The settlement has a historic primary school, established 15 April 1901, which also serves as a community centre and focal point for the area.

Rhyndaston Tunnel

The Rhyndaston Tunnel is a 955 m long 1 in 40 (2.5%) grade railway tunnel in southern Tasmania. The northern end of the tunnel is 72.5 km from the Hobart railway yards. It was built as part of the Tasmanian Main Line Company's track from Hobart to Western Junction which was completed in 1876.

Buckland Military Training Area

The Buckland Military Training Area (BMTA) is a small arms and manoeuvre range, located 76 kilometres from Hobart, Tasmania. The training area is the largest and most used training area in Tasmania. The range covers 23,428 hectares and has a 400-man camp and a Range Complex, which includes a standard grenade range, three sneaker ranges, a snap gallery range, six tactical fire and manoeuvre training areas and a marksmanship training range.
