Lexton, Victoria

Lexton is a town in western Victoria, Australia, in the Shire of Pyrenees local government area. It is on the Sunraysia Highway, 161 kilometres north west of the state capital Melbourne. At the 2006 census, Lexton and the surrounding area had a population of 149. The Post Office opened in the area on 1 July 1848 as Burn Bank and was renamed to Lexton in 1854 when the township was settled.

The Shire of Lexton was a lLocal government area about 150 kilometres northwest of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of 821.03 square kilometres, and existed from 1860 until 1994.

Waubra Wind Farm

The Waubra wind farm is located 35 km north-west of Ballarat and was completed in July 2009. It consists of 128 wind turbines, with associated substations and an operations centre. Each wind turbine has a capacity of 1.5 megawatts (MW), providing a total installed capacity of 192 MW. Waubra is the third largest wind farm in Australia, after Hallett Wind Farm (298MW) and Lake Bonney Wind Farm (279MW).

Pyrenees Shire

Pyrenees Shire is a local government area in Victoria, Australia. It is in the western part of the state. It includes the towns of Avoca and Beaufort. It was formed in 1994 from the merger of the Shire of Avoca, Shire of Lexton and Shire of Ripon. In 2006, it had a population of 6,558, covering over 3,432 square kilometres.

Amphitheatre, Victoria

Amphitheatre is a small town in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Pyrenees Highway in the Pyrenees Shire, south-west of Avoca. At the 2006 census, Amphitheatre and the surrounding area had a population of 291. Amphitheatre was originally located further south of its current location, in the natural amphitheatre after which it is named. A Post Office opened on 22 June 1859. At the end of the gold mining period of the late 19th century the township was moved to the highway.
