Papallacta

Papallacta is a small village in Napo Province, Ecuador located at an altitude of 3,300 m in the Andes just off the Eastern Cordilleras on the road from Quito which leads into the Amazon jungle. The scenic drive from Quito to Papallacta passes through several towns and small villages before ascending to a peak of over 4,000 m where views of mountains and glaciers are visible.

Quitsato Sundial

Because of its design, the shadow projected by the gnomon on the dial lines can indicate solstices, equinoxes, and also months of the year with great precision. ]] The Quitsato Sundial is a cultural-touristic place located at La Mitad Del Mundo, near to Cayambe, 47km at North of Quito. It was built at 2006 and inaugurated at 2007 as an independent, non-profit project in a 24756 ft² (2300 m²) area.
