Marque (river)

The Marque is a 32 km long river in France, right tributary of the Deûle. Its source is near the village Mons-en-Pévèle. Its course crosses the Nord département, notably the eastern part of the agglomeration of Lille. It flows northwards through the towns of Pont-à-Marcq, Tressin, Villeneuve d'Ascq, Croix and Marcq-en-Barœul, finally flowing into the Deûle in Marquette-lez-Lille.

Stade Grimonprez-Jooris

Stade Grimonprez-Jooris was a multi-purpose stadium in Lille, France built in 1974. It was used mainly for football matches as it was home to the Lille OSC football club from 1975 until 2004, when the stadium was closed. The club originally planned to have Grimonprez-Jooris redeveloped into a 33,000-seat stadium, but this proposal was rejected, and the Grand Stade Lille Métropole was constructed instead.

Citadel of Lille

The Citadel of Lille (French: Citadelle de Lille; Dutch: Citadel van Rijsel) is a pentagonal citadel of the city wall of Lille, in France. It was built around 1668. It hosts the Corps de réaction rapide France. Dubbed "Queen of the citadels" (Reine des citadelles) by Vauban, it is one of the most notable citadels designed by Vauban. It is remarkable for its size, the quality of the architecture, and the state of preservation today.

Hospice Comtesse

The Hospice Comtesse or Hospice Notre-Dame is a 17th century hospice on Rue de la Monnaie in the Old Town area of Lille, France, first built in 1236 by Jeanne, Countess of Flanders. It is now a museum on the history of the hospice.

Lille Cathedral

Lille Cathedral, the Basilica of Notre Dame de la Treille, is a Roman Catholic cathedral and basilica, and a national monument of France, located in the city of Lille. It has been the seat of the Bishop of Lille since the creation of the diocese in 1913, although construction of the church of Notre Dame de la Treille began in 1854. The church takes its name from a 12th century statue of the Virgin Mary.
