A3 road (Latvia)

The A3 is a national road in Latvia connecting Inčukalns to Estonian border in Valka. The road is part of European Route E264, and part of TEN-T road network of Latvia. After the border, the road turns into Estonian National Highway 3, which leads to Jõhvi in northeastern Estonia. The length of A3 in Latvian territory is 122 kilometers. The road leads through the scenic Gauja National Park. Currently A3 has 1x1 lanes in full length.

Vidzemes Augstskola

Vidzemes augstskola (Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences) enrolled its first students in the autumn of 1996. It was founded to promote economic, political and social development of the area by providing higher education in the Vidzeme Region of Latvia, and to counteract the brain drain that was occurring as youths left the area to pursue further studies. The university offers a higher professional education on the Bachelor's degree level as well as Master’s studies.

Valmiera District

The Valmiera district was an administrative division of Latvia, located in the Vidzeme region, in the country's north-east. Its administrative center was Valmiera. It bordered Estonia to the north and the former districts of Limbaži to the west, Valka to the east and Cēsis to the south. It was the eight largest district in Latvia and had a population of 60,345 (2000 census). Districts were eliminated during the administrative-territorial reform in 2009.
