Melchsee-Frutt

Melchsee-Frutt is a mountain resort village in Switzerland. The village is located near the lake Melchsee, in the municipality of Kerns, canton Obwalden. It has an elevation of 1920 meters. The main attractions of this resort are skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking and rock climbing. The village is accessible by car, but with some time restrictions. Melchsee

Melchsee is a lake in the canton of Obwalden, Switzerland. It lends it name to the resort Melchsee-Frutt, in the municipality of Kerns. At an elevation of 1891 m, its surface area is 0.54 km².

Meiringen railway station

Meiringen is a railway station in the town of Meiringen in the Swiss canton of Bern. Meiringen is a railway junction at the meeting point of two railway lines. The Brünig line of the Zentralbahn is an inter-regional metre gauge railway that links Interlaken and Lucerne, whilst the Meiringen–Innertkirchen railway (MIB) is a local railway that links to Innertkirchen and the Aar Gorge.

Aar Gorge

The Aar Gorge is a section of the river Aar that carves through a limestone ridge near the town of Meiringen. The gorge is an indirect product of glaciation; 10,000 years ago, just as the Ice Age was coming to an end, torrential runoff water from melting glaciers eroded a deep, narrow chasm through the limestone barrier. Although barely one mile long, this passage is bordered by sheer cliffs up to 165 feet (50 m) high on either side.

Geographical centre of Switzerland

The geographical centre of Switzerland has the coordinates {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:46|48|4|N|8|13|36|E|type:landmark_region:CH-OW_source:dewiki |primary |name= }}. It is located at Älggi-Alp in the municipality of Sachseln, Obwalden. The point is the centre of mass determined in 1988 by Swisstopo. As the point is difficult to access, a stone was set 500 m further south-east on Älggi Alp (1645 m).
