Jungfrau Marathon

The Jungfrau Marathon is one of the best known mountain marathons in the world, in full view of the famous Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains in the Bernese Oberland area of the Swiss Alps. The first Jungfrau Marathon was held in 1993. Approximately 3,500 runners from 35 different nations participate. The Jungfrau Marathon takes place each year in September.

Wengernalp railway

The Wengernalp railway is a 19.091 kilometres long, 800 gauge rack railway line in Switzerland, which runs from Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald (two branches) to Kleine Scheidegg, making it the world's longest continuous rack and pinion railway. At Kleine Scheidegg passengers transfer to the Jungfraubahn for the continuation of the journey to the highest railway station in Europe at Jungfraujoch.

Wengernalp

The Wengernalp is an alpine meadow at an elevation of 1874 m, between Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg in the Swiss Alps. It can be reached on foot, by the Wengernalp railway (WAB) to Wengernalp station from Wengen or by skiing from Kleine Scheidegg. In 1841 the hotel De la Jungfrau was opened; it was later rebuilt after a fire in 1865.

Trummelbach

The Trummelbach Falls in Switzerland are a series of ten glacier-waterfalls inside the mountain made accessible by tunnel-lift and illuminated. The Trummelbach alone drains the mighty glacier defiles of Eiger (3970 m), Mönch (4099 m) and Jungfrau (4158 m) and carries 20,200 tons of boulder detritus per year. Its drainage area is 24 km², half of it covered by snow and glaciers. The falls carry up to 20,000 liters of water per second.
