Wincanton Racecourse

Wincanton Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in Wincanton, Somerset, England. The steeplechase fences are large, making it a good test of a chaser. Three fences in quick succession in the second half of the home-straight make for exciting racing and often change the complexion of a finish dramatically; resulting in a great many close finishes.

Heath Hill Farm

Heath Hill Farm is a 20.73 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest near Stourton in Wiltshire, notified in 1997. Part of the Stourhead estate, it is also situated within the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The site is mainly grass meadows and pasture, with trees and thick hedges separating fields. It is surrounded mostly by woodland, once part of Selwood Forest. The underlying ground is made of Gault Clay and Upper Greensand.

Wincanton railway station

Wincanton railway station was a station in the county of Somerset, in England. It was located between Templecombe and Cole stations on the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway. Sited on a double line stretch of the S&D, the station had two platforms with a station building. A goods yard, controlled from a signal box on platform one, gave access to sidings for the use of the horses from the local racecourse.

A371 road

The A371 is a primary road in England running from Wincanton in Somerset, to Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset. The A371 starts at the A303, then passes Castle Cary, Ansford, Cannard's Grave (where it briefly joins the A37), Shepton Mallet, Croscombe, Wells, Westbury-sub-Mendip, Rodney Stoke, Draycott, Cheddar, Axbridge (where it briefly joins the A38), Winscombe, Banwell and Locking before finishing at the A370.

RAF Zeals

RAF Zeals was a wartime Royal Air Force station in Wiltshire. The station was sited to the north of the village of Zeals, next to the village of Stourton and the Stourhead estate. The station was only in operation from 1942 to 1946. In that time it was successively occupied by the Royal Air Force, the United States Army Air Force and the Royal Navy. From opening until August 1943 the site was used by the RAF as an airfield for Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire fighters.
