Strathallan

Strathallan is the strath of the Allan Water in Scotland. The strath stretches north and north-east from Stirling through Bridge of Allan, Dunblane and Blackford to Auchterarder in Perth and Kinross. Strathallan is also the name for one of the wards in the Perth and Kinross Council area, electing three councillors under the Single Transferable Vote system.

Kinbuck Bridge

Kinbuck Bridge is a category B listed structure in the hamlet of Kinbuck in Stirlingshire. The present structure is dated 1752. In 1715, after resting for the night in Kinbuck, 6,000 Jacobite troops crossed Kinbuck bridge over the River Allan on their way to fight the Hanoverians at the Battle of Sherrifmuir.

Cromlix House

Cromlix House is a Victorian mansion near Kinbuck, Perthshire. It was built in 1874 as a family residence, and has since been operated as a hotel. As of 2011, the hotel has been closed and the house has been for sale. There are records of Cromlix from the 1500s when the Bishop of Dunblane sold the lands of Cromlix to his brother, Robert Chisholm. The present house was built for Arthur Hay-Drummond, son of the Earl of Kinnoul. Edward VIII visited in 1903.

Battle of Sheriffmuir

The Battle of Sheriffmuir was an engagement in 1715 at the height of the Jacobite rebellion in England and Scotland. The battlefield has been inventoried and protected by Historic Scotland under the Scottish Historical Environment Policy of 2009.

Diocese of Dunblane

The Diocese of Dunblane or Diocese of Strathearn was one of the thirteen historical dioceses of Scotland, before the abolition of episcopacy in the Scottish Church in 1689. Roughly, it embraced the territories covered by the old earldoms of Strathearn and Menteith. The diocese was founded by the year 1155, when the first known bishop, Bishop Laurence, appears on record. By the episcopate of Bishop Clement the cathedral was firmly located in Dunblane, Strathearn, Perth and Kinross.
