Loch Long (Highlands)

Not to be confused with Loch Long off the Firth of Clyde, in Argyll and Bute. Loch Long is a sea loch situated on the western coast of Scotland, in the Highlands. It is a popular destination for tourists and fishermen. The nearby Eilean Donan Castle stands at the confluence of Loch Long, Loch Duich and Loch Alsh.

Eilean Donan

Eilean Donan is a small island in Loch Duich in the western Highlands of Scotland. It lies about 1 kilometre from the village of Dornie, and is dominated by a picturesque castle which is familiar from many photographs and appearances in film and television. Eilean Donan is part of the Kintail National Scenic Area, one of 40 in Scotland. In 2001, the island had a recorded population of just one person.

Loch Carron

Loch Carron is a sea loch on the west coast of Ross and Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands. It is the point at which the River Carron enters the North Atlantic Ocean. According to the marine charts, the tidal currents reach 3 knots in the narrows, although there is little visible water disturbance from the flow. At the narrows, the depth of water is less than 20 metres, but in the basins on either sides it extends to a depth of more than 100 m. http://www. divemagazine. co. uk/news/article.

Strome Castle

Strome Castle is a ruined castle on the shore of Loch Carron in Stromemore, 3.5 miles south-west of the village of Lochcarron, on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands. Originally built by the Macdonald Earls of Ross. Later in 1472 the castle was owned by the Clan MacDonald of Lochalsh and Alan MacDonald Dubh, 12th Chief of the Clan Cameron was constable on behalf of the MacDonalds of Lochalsh.
