Wilson Dam

Wilson Dam is a dam spanning the Tennessee River between Lauderdale County and Colbert County in the U.S. state of Alabama. It impounds Wilson Lake. It is one of nine Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) dams on the Tennessee River. The dam was declared a National Historic Landmark on November 13, 1966. Construction on Wilson Dam began in 1918 and was completed in 1924 under supervision of Hugh L. Cooper. The Wilson Dam actually predates the TVA, but was later placed under the authority of the TVA.

Florence–Muscle Shoals metropolitan area

The Shoals is a metropolitan area in northwestern Alabama, officially known as the Florence-Muscle Shoals Metropolitan Area, including the cities of Florence, Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia, and Sheffield, and the counties of Lauderdale and Colbert. The population is around 200,000 and an additional 410,000 commute to the Shoals daily for work, school, shopping, and more according to a recent Shoals publication called "Four Cities, Four Cultures".

Muscle Shoals, Alabama

Muscle Shoals is the largest city in Colbert County, Alabama, United States. Since the 1960s the city has been famous for the "Muscle Shoals Sound" as local recording studios produced hit records that shaped the history of popular music. Florence, Alabama

Florence is the county seat of Lauderdale County, Alabama, United States, in the northwestern corner of the state. According to the 2010 Census, the city's population was 39,319. Florence is the largest and principal city of the Metropolitan Statistical Area known as "The Shoals". Florence is considered the primary economic hub of northwestern Alabama. Florence is renowned for its annual tourism events, including W.C. Handy Music Festival in the summer, and the Renaissance Faire in the fall.
