The Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum is the official state railroad museum of Alabama. Dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and operation of historically significant railway equipment, the museum is located at 1919 Ninth Street, Calera, Alabama, on I-65 approximately 30 miles south of Birmingham.

Calera High School

Calera High School is a high school located in Calera, Alabama. The principal of the school is Richard Bishop. The Vice-Principle is Melisa Hadder. As of 2008, 879 students attend the school in grades 7-12. The athletic teams compete in the 4A division of Alabama High School Athletic Association competition. The basketball team is led by basketball coach Robert Burdette. He has led the team to several state championships.

Shelby County Airport is a public use airport located four nautical miles (7 km) southeast of the central business district of Alabaster, a city in Shelby County, Alabama, United States. It is owned by the Shelby County Commission. The airport is situated in the city of Calera, Alabama.
