Lyons Trailhead
The Lyons Trailhead or Lyons Creek Trailhead is located on Wrights Lake Road off Highway 50 about halfway to Wrights Lake. Some of the destinations most accessed by the trailhead are Lyons Lake (6 miles) and Sylvia Lake (6 miles) as well as the rest of the Desolation Wilderness. The summit of Pyramid Peak (California) can be reached from this trailhead as well.

Twin Lakes Trailhead
The Twin Lakes Trailhead or Wrights Lake Trailhead is located at the north end of Wrights Lake road off Highway 50 a few miles east of Kyburz, California just to the west of Lake Tahoe. Wrights Lake road is not plowed in winter. Some of the destinations most accessed by the trailhead are Twin Lakes(2 mi) and Island Lake(2.5 mi) as well as the rest of the Desolation Wilderness. Mount Price or Mount Aggasiz can also be climbed.

Wrights Lake
Wrights Lake is in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, west of Lake Tahoe on the western border of the Desolation Wilderness. It can be reached via Wrights Road off U.S. Route 50 and the Ice House Road. It provides hiking access to the western portions of the Desolation Wilderness via the Twin Lakes trailhead. Wrights Road is not plowed and is inaccessible during the winter.
