Big Morongo Canyon Preserve

The Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is a 31,000 acres (130 km²) native plants habitat and wildlife preserve located in the Little San Bernardino Mountains of the Transverse Ranges, in the transition zone between the higher Mojave Desert and lower elevation Colorado Desert section of the Sonoran Desert. The Preserve is in San Bernardino County, California between State Route 62—Morongo Valley to the east and Joshua Tree National Park to the west. Admission is free.

Our Lady of the Desert School

Our Lady of the Desert School (OLAD) is a coeducational private Roman Catholic combination Elementary, Middle School and High school located in Yucca Valley, San Bernardino County, California, USA. It was founded in 1983, and owns its own facility, which includes a 280-occupancy chapel and tennis courts, on 5 acres of land. The school is orthodox Catholic in curriculum and administration. It is not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino.

Chuckawalla Bill

Chuckawalla Bill (August 2, 1875 – January 11, 1950) was a Spanish-American War veteran, a sapper in the British Army during World War I, a prospector, a cook, and vagabond. His birth name was William Anthony Simon, although he most frequently used the name Anthony W. Simmons. Later in life, he settled down in Palo Verde, California. He is buried in the Los Angeles National Cemetery, Los Angeles, California.

Desert Christ Park

Desert Christ Park is a 3.5-acre sculpture garden in Yucca Valley, California. The park was sculpted and created by Antone Martin, a former aircraft worker who died in 1961 at the age of 74. Martin started sculpting the figures during the height of the Cold War atomic bomb scare of the mid-1940s, hoping that the sculptures would inspire global peace.
