Big Sur Station

Big Sur Station is a multiagency visitor center and ranger station operated by Caltrans, the Los Padres National Forest, and California State Parks. It is approximately 26 miles south of Carmel, California near Big Sur, California. It serves as the western terminus of the 23 mile Pine Ridge Trail.

Sykes Camp

Sykes Camp is located 10 miles miles from the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park trailhead along the Pine Ridge Trail. Campsites are spread along both sides of the Big Sur River, both upstream and downstream from where the trail intersects the river. There is a toilet downstream of this intersection as well. There are three small man-made pools fed by a natural hot springs, carved out of the southern hillside about .25 miles downstream from where the trail intersects the river.

Big Sur River

The Big Sur River is a 15.7-mile-long river on the Central Coast of California. The river drains a portion of the Big Sur area, a thinly settled region of the Central California coast where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean. The Big Sur River's headwaters are in the mountains, it flows roughly northwest and empties into the ocean, where there is a natural sandbar that has created a lagoon.

Rancho El Sur

Rancho El Sur was a 8,949-acre Mexican land grant in present day Monterey County, California given in 1834 by Governor José Figueroa to Juan Alvarado. The grant extended between the Little Sur River and what is now called Cooper Point.
